Mr W. B. Reilly, runner-up in the recent New Zealand Amateur Golf Championship, left for the north yesterday. Dr P. P. Lynch, who has been attending the medical examinations at the University of Otago, left on his return to Wellington yesterday. Mr A. G. Homer, after spending several months in South Africa, will return to Dunedin by the express this afternoon. Mr Alec Regan, manager of the Majestic Theatre, Wellington, will arrive to-day on a visit to Dunedin. Mr A. C. Galloway, who has been associated with various book firms in Dunedin for many years, has been appointed librarian of the Dunedin Athenseum in place of Mr H. Greenwood, who has accepted a position at Palmerston North Advice has been received to-day that Dr W. Bremner Highet, M. 8.. Ch.B., son of Mr and Mrs D. Highet, late of Dunedin and now of Wellington, has passed the F.R.C.S, examination final degree recently held in London. The Sacred Heart Boarding Scholarship, of an annual value of 60 guineas and tenable for three years, has been awarded (says a Press Association telegram from Auckland) to Kevin Francis O'Connor, a pupil of the Convent School. Palmerston North. In appreciation of his services as pianist at the weekly community sings, Mr Alfred Pettitt was the recipient of a presentation at the annual meeting of the Community Sing Committee yesterday. The presentation was made by the Mayor (Mr A. H. Allen), who said that Mr Pettitt's efforts were highly appreciated by the public as well as by the committee. Mr Pettitt briefly responded. Northbound passengers by Union Airways yesterday morning were Mr P. Granger and Mrs F. Ryan for Wellington, and Mrs J. A. S. Aitken for Palmerston North. Southbound passengers in the afternoon were Master J. Henderson and Mr E. R. Hoges from Wellington, Mr J. Kirk from Palmerston North, and Messrs H. T. Tidswell and H. Nunnerley from Christchurch
The administrative staff of the Dunedin Hospital met on Friday last to bid farewell to Miss F. Tyson, who is leaving the staff on account of her approaching marriage. Dr Thomson, medical superintendent, in asking the matron, Miss Tomlinson, to present Miss Tyson with a dining room clock and silver cake server from her colleagues, made reference to her length of service and cheerful willingness, and asked her to accept his best wishes and those of the staff for her future. Miss Tyson thanked those present for their gifts and good wishes She was also the recipient of a presentation from the staff of the X-ray and radium department.
