A gun carriage, escorted by six generals with bared swords on each side and drawn by six black horses, bore the coffin, which- was covered by a scarlet pall and the Turkish flag from the train to the catafalque. Members of Parliament followed through streets lined with troops with bowed heads. Four generals and two privates guard the catafalque at pight as a procession of the populace files past.
