ST. CLAIR PLAYGROUND

PROVISION OF IMPROVEMENTS RECOMMENDED BY RESERVES COMMITTEE At the request of the Dunedin Amenities' Society and the St. Clair Improvement Association, further consideration has been given by the Reserves Committtee of the Dunedin City Council to the carrying out of additional work at the St. Clair playground beyond the extent for which financial provision has already been made. The two societies concerned asked that additional work, at an estimated cost of £333 12s 6d, be carried out, and offered to provide one-third of this amount. The work asked for consisted of terracing and steps on the sea front, tar macadamising additional paths, and the provision of a ramp to the children's playground. The Reserves Committee will recommend at the meeting of the City Council on Monday night that the work, as requested, be proceeded with at the estimated cost of £333 12s 6d, and that the offer of the Amenities' Society and the St. Clair Improvement Association to provide one-third of this cost be accepted The committee will further recommend that the'balance of £222 12s 6d required to be found by the council be charged to the Works Department allocation.
