SEA SCOUTS

ANDERSON'S BAY TROOP ANNUAL MEETING The fifteenth annual meeting of the Anderson's Bay Sea Scouts troop was held last night, there being a full muster of Scouts and Cubs and a fair attendance of parents and friends. The meeting was presided over by Mr J. H. Kirkwood, who thanked the parents and friends for coming along, but stated that he had hoped to see a larger attendance. Moving the adoption of the annual report, as presented by the secretary, Mr Kirkwood stated that it had been a satisfactory year and the troop had "pulled together" well. A large amount of credit for the efficient management of the troop's work, both at the parades and at the various camps, was due to Captain Black and his fellow officers. The annual report and balance sheet were adopted. A report on the work done during the year by the troop was presented by Captain A. J. Black. The roll number had shown a slight increase on last year's, the average figure being 45. Unfortunately, the space at the troop's disposal prevented any large increase in membership. The practical side of the work was well advanced, due not so much to the efforts of the officers, but to the co-operation of the boys. , , A brief report on the Cub packs work was contributed by Cubmaster L. William?. Commissioner C. H. Wing was present and presented the various years* of service stars won by the troop members. Mr Wing congratulated the officers and Scouts on their year's record. He remarked that they were fortunate in having two Scout jamborees comparatively near at hand in the not too distant future—one at Sydney and one at the Centennial celebrations at Wellington. Mr Wing went on to explain in detail the arrangements for the Wellington gathering, and recommended all Scouts to make an effort to be present at it. The secretary, Mr J. E. Bartlett, intimated his desire to retire from the positidn. All other officers were reelected for the ensuing year.
