OUTRAGE IN ONTARIO INVESTIGATION ORDERED CALGARY, Nov. 1. A Brockville (Ontario) message says the Government ordered rigid investigation to-day of the desecration of the monument of General Brock, hero of the 1812 American War of Independence. A garbage can was placed over the general's head and his chest was wrapped in corsets. General Brock, on the outbreak of the War of Independence, had to defend Upper . Canada against invasion by the United States. His operations were very successful, and he compelled an American force of 2500 men. under General Hull, to surrender at Detroit, an achievement which gained him a Knighthood of the Bath and the title of the "Hero of Upper Canada." Two months later he was killed at the battle of Queenston Heights.
