HORSEBACK RECORD NEW ZEALANDER’S PLANS (From Our Own Correspondent) (By Air Mail) LONDON, Sept. 26. A New Zealand stud farmer, longdistance runner, and horseman, Mr George Newton Bell, has returned to Nottinghamshire after an absence of nearly 15 years. Mr Bell, it is reported, has come mainly to buy pedigree battle for New Zealand, but in addition he intends to attempt to break the London-York oorseback record. On the occasion of his last visit he completed the journey in four days on an English hunter, returning to London in nine hours under this time. Since his absence in New Zealand this record has again been' broken and it is his object to regain i).. He will use a Yorkshire Dale pony. Mr Bell said that if he is successful he intends to challenge Aimf Tshiffely, described as the toughest horse rider in England, and Tom Mix in an endurance test for any distance.
