PUBLICATIONS RECEIVED

Australian Industry “ Made in Australia ” is the title of a handsome publication issued by the Sydney Morning Herald with the official endorsement of the Associated Chambers of Manufactures of Australia. It is presented as an illustrated record of the manufactures of the great Commonwealth, and presents in graphic form a most comprehensive review of the activities of secondary industry. The whole production of the brochure is superb, and it is itself a recommendation of the efficiency of the Australian craftsman, while its reviews in text, photographic illustration and decoration are most informing. Our copy of “ Made ’in Australia” is from the Australian Trade Commissioner. Wellington.

The Tablet The New Zealand Tablet Christmas Number is, as in years past, a publication of considerable general interest, apart from its particular place in the affections of the Catholic community. The short stories, including prize-win-ning contributions, are numerous and competent, the articles have all a relevance to the Christmas season or the Dominion, and there are several meritorious poems. The illustrations cover a wide range, views of New Zealand scenic beauties predominating.

Verse In “ The Quest of Man ” (Lothian Publishing Company, 2s), David Avers. The little volume consists of three fairly lengthy narrative poems in blank verse, and some smaller contributions in rhyme.
