Friday, October 14 (Before Mr J. R. Bartholomew. S.M.) Traffic Offence?! George Kennard, for negligently driving a motor lorry at East Taieri, was fined £3 and costs (£1 Is). For not driving with due care and attention at Allan ton, Young Tong was fined 10s and costs (10s). Mervyn Tree was fined 5s and costs (12s) for riding an unregistered motor cycle at Berwick. Charged with operating a motor lorry without a heavy traffic licence, Thomas Evered Steele was fined 10s and costs (10s). John Mackie Coulter was fined £2 and costs (10s) for operating a lorry with a load in excess of that for which it was licensed. For driving a car without a warrant of fitness, William Barron was fined 10s and costs (12s). Ivan J. Davies and John Bain Day were each fined 5s and costs (10s) for parking their cars in prohibited areas in Brighton and Burnside respectively _ Charged with speeding at Outram, Thomas Carruthen; was convicted and fined 30s and costs (21s). Similarly charged in respect of a motor lorry, Lester William Simpson and Ashley George Faigan were each fined £2 and costs (10s) and Thomas Quin was fined £3 and costs (10s).—Alexander Arthur Mawhinney was fined 20s and costs (10s) for exceeding the speed limit in Mosgiel borough. Charged with riding an unlicensed motor cycle and with not being the possessor of a driver’s licence, Douglas Blair Miller was fined 5s and costs (12s) on each charge. Unlighted Bicycles For riding a bicycle without a light, Gilbert Ross was fined 5s and costs (10s).—Similarly charged, Thomas Blair was fined 5s and costs (12s). Wandering Stock For allowing stock to wander on the road at Otokia, Janet Stevenson was fined 20s and costs (12s). Civil Cases Judgment by default with costs (£1 3s 6d) was given in the undefended case in which H W Brooks claimed from B Hayes the sum of £4 16s for goods supplied. The Scholl Manufacturing Company proceeded against F D. Johnson on a iudgment summons claiming the sum of £4 5s for goods supplied.—The defendant was ordered to pay forthwith the amount owing with costs (12s 6d), in default five days’ imprisonment
