The monthly meeting of the Ravensbourne branch of the League of Mothers held on Thursday last was attended by delegates from the St. Clair and Opoho branches of the League of Mothers and the Ravensbourne branch of the Mothers' Union. Mrs Cairney was in the chair. Miss Paton, of Columba College, gave an address on “ Child Psychology.” During the after noon the following contributed items Mrs Peter Dawson, Mrs W, 11. Carson Miss Rena Roach, and Miss Newey The league choir also rendered items Mrs Newey being the accompanist.

The monthly meeting of the Cam-brian-St. Balkans branch was held at the residence of Mrs F. C. Morgan Mrs J. D. Enright presided. Miss Buddie gave an instructive lecture and

The Tuapeka Mouth branch held its October meeting on Thursday last, Mrs Bulfin presiding. The motto was “ Never say you can’t; always say I’ll try.” The roll-call was “The most welcome sound I know.” The Rev. T. M. McDonald, M.A.. gave an interesting address on “ Astronomy. The competitions resulted;—Best semistiff starched collar—Mrs D. Brown 1; best six pikelets—Mrs Latimer 1. An advertisement competition was won by Mrs Blair. The hostesses were Mesdames Waller. Clark, and Steel ¥ -V- ¥ Mrs W. J. McKenzie presided at the October meeting of the Waikoikci branch, at which Miss J. Lindsay gave an interesting report of Country Girls' Week. Macnee. V ¥ V The Henley branch held its seventh birthday party on Friday last. The programme was as follows: —Humorous sketch —“ Not Lost ’’—Miss Sinclair, Mrs Timblick, and Mr Popham; gipsy camp fire songs, members; wireless sketch nets, Miss Sinclair, Miss E. Munro, and Messrs J. Wilson and Popham; pianoforte trio—Misses Sinclair, T Taylor, and F. Carmody; playette—“ References ” —Misses M. Wilson, M. Ross, and F. Panting: play—” Aunt Maria’s Wireless ’’—Mrs Hunter, Misses Sinclair. J Popham, F. Panting, and Messrs H Wilson and C. Popham. Items were interspersed with vocal solos by Mrs Manson and elocution items by Miss R McCullan Shoulder sprays were presented to Mrs Elliot, provincial president; Mrs Drake, past Dominion president. Miss Sinclair, president; Mrs Dawson, past president; and Mrs Hunter, secretary. The birthday cake (donated by Mrs Ross) was carried in by Misses M. Ross and F Parsons, who were dressed as gipsies. The official cut was made by Mrs Elliot. Mr J. Wilson made an efficient M.C. for the dance which followed supper ¥ ¥ ¥ The monthly meeting of the Pukeuri Junction branch was held on Wednesday last, Mrs Parker presiding. Two new members were enrolled. The roll-call was “ Imitating birds, beasts, and animals.” A competition—most articles in the pantry—was won by Mrs J Dugdalc. A display of bowls of spring flowers was held. Mrs Fitzgerald, of Oarnaru, agling as judge and awarding first place to Mrs H. Hughes. The judge then gave a most instructive talk on “ Child Psychology,” for which she was thanked by Mrs Parker, president, and presented with a posy. The hostesses were Mesdames Easton and Ingram, ¥ ¥ ¥ Mrs J. E. Hill presided at the monthly meeting of the Herbert

branch. The roll call was “ Schoolboy howlers.” The competitions resulted: Article from one yard of Britway— Mrs Vass 1, Mrs Campbell and Mrs Beckingsdale (equal) 2, Miss Campbell and Mrs Gerrie (equal) 4; bloom— Mrs H. Thomas 1, Miss Campbell 2, Mrs J. E. Hill and Mrs Beckingsdale (equal) 3, Parcels were received and packed for the lepers on Makogai Island.

The monthly meeting of the Livingstone branch was held on October 5, Mrs Barnes presiding. The roll call was “Whistle a tune or a pennv pay,” most members doing the latter. A new member was welcomed. A box of goods from the Returned Soldiers’ Association found ready sale. The competitions resulted: —Cut flowers— Mrs Barnes 1, Miss Kennedy 2, Mrs Spiers 3; article made from a sugarbag—Mesdames Hutton 1, Hqwarth 2; six best pikelets—Mesdames 'Clark 1, Hutton 2, R. C. Cook 3. Mrs Barnes gave a competition which was won by Mrs Clark. Mrs R. C. Cook was the hostess.

The monthly meeting of the Rataiuu branch was held on October 5. Mrs Rodgers presiding. Mrs Shaw won most points for the flower competition, and was also hostess for the afternoon, during which a demonstration on the making of flowers from wood pulp was given by Mrs Tubman.

The monthly meeting of the Mtl-burn-Clarcndon branch was held on Friday last. Members decided to donate £1 to the Flock House scheme. A floral fete was arranged to be held in November, and various competitions were prepared. The roll call was “ Hints on icing.” The competitions resulted: Apple jelly—Mrs D. Jensen 1; raspberry jam—Mrs Horn 1; best blooms—Mrs Somerville and Mrs Young 1, Miss Rentall and Mrs Anderson 2, Mrs Stivens and Mrs Kane, juu., 3. The hostesses were Mesdames Carr and Ashworth.
