OFFICIAL FORECAST FAIR TO FINE GENERALLY The following is the official weather forecast: — Pressure is still high in the north, but is now falling generally over the Dominion. The depression over the western Tasman Sea has deepened and is slowly moving eastward. Indications are for: — Winds. -North to west prevailing, light to moderate over the northern half of the North Island but strong at times, thence southwards and rising to gale force in some exposed positions. Cloudy weather in the morning was followed by improved conditions. The wind was light from the south and the maximum temperature was 67deg. The barometric pressure fell slightly, the reading at 5 p.m. being 30.22 m. WELLINGTON. Oct. 14. The weather to-day was rather cloudy, but otherwise was fine The temperatures were moderate. A rresn wind blew from the north. The maximum temperature was 58.3dcg and the minimum last night 48.4 deg. At 3.30 p.m. the barometer reading was SQ.OSm. CHRISTC HURCH, Oct. 14. The weather in Christchurch to-day was perfect, with the sky almost cloudless all day and only the lightest of winds from the south-west in the morning and the east in the afternoon, ine maximum temperature during the day was 68.4 deg. The barometer at 3 p.m. registered 29.934 in and was falling.
