TAIERI CLUB’S MEETING The anni.ual meeting of. the Taieri Lawn Tennis Club was held on Monday, when there was an excellent!-at* tendance of members The annual report and balance sheet were adopted,, showing that the past season had been most successful, both from a playing and a financial point of view.- - Two teams were entered in the local competitions, and although neither had finished first in its respective' grade, they had had enjoyable and interesting games. In the Championship Singles the winners were Miss P Dyer and Mr W. Cousins, and Miss I. McLean, and Mr E, Gordon were successful in the Handicap Singles. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mr G. A. Broadley; vice-presidents, Mrs R. A. Low and Mr B. A. Quelch; secretary, Mr W. Cousins; treasurer, Mr, E. Gordon; General Committee—Misses E. Mclntosh, J. Murray, Joan Murray, and Mrs Low, Messrs J. Craig, W. .Murray. A. McLean, J. Bedford; auditor, Mr G. Patterson; Match Committee —Messrs G. A. Broadley, E. Gordon, Miss P Dyer; delegates to O.L.'T.A., Mr G. A Broadley; Social Committee—Messrs C. Meldrum, A. McLean, Misses P. Meldrum, M. Swallow; Catering Committee, Miss J. Murray. * It was decided that the opening day be set down for September 24, and that a dance be held in the evening A proposal for the construction of a new court was carefully considered, and after a lengthy discussion if was decided that the laying down of a new. court should be proceeded with,, provided that the necessary funds could be raised.
