ADVERTISING SPACE

MUNICIPAL PROPERTY GISBORNE COUNCIL’S DISCUSSION (Per United Press Association) GISBORNE, Sept. 6. Advertising space on the borough buses or on any • municipal property must not be used for political propaganda. according to the decision of the Borough Council this evening, following consideration of a letter by a local advertising agency stating that it had removed a Nafonal Party advertisement, which it had previously placed in the buses, because the council did not approve. It was pointed out that the wording of advertisements .must be first submitted to the council. A councillor admitted having drawn the attention of the agency to the omission but it,was not indicated that the council disapproved. Following the complaints of the ministers of the Baptist and Anglican Churches on the litter of Papers bottles and other rubbish left on church properties by dancers at the City Hall, the council decided to ask the hall owners to improve the condition of hire and that no M pass-out checks be given at evening functions.
