THE MOSES OF NEW ZEALAND
TO THE EDITOR Sir, —Four years ago the great majority of the people of New Zealand were in the same position as the Children of Israel, when, as slaves in Egypt, they were compelled to make bricks without straw. They were in bondage to the mortgagee, or tied to their creditors. Hopeless despair was their lot. Like that great ancient statesman Moses, Mr Savage has led his people out of the house of bondage away from the clutches of King Pharaoh, represented to-day by the scheming international financiers. With many murmurings and wars, our great leader has brought us safely through the wilderness to the Jordan. Before us is the land of the National Philistines, who are about to attack us. Let us stand by our leader; let us fight like Joshua and his army and put the Nationalist Philistines, with their cunning promises, to flight. Green pastures lie before us. If the Nationalist forcss win we shall be thrust back into the desert to endure the torment of divers pests for 40 years.—l am, etc., Fifty Years A Worker.
