BISHOP'S APPEAL

FUNDS TO BUILD CATHEDRAL RESPONSE ALREADY TOTALS £13,000 (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, Sept. 2. Bishop H. St. Barbe Holland to-night completed his visitation of a further nine parishes in the course of a tour to launch the Anglican Diocesan centennial appeal for funds to build he Wellington Cathedral and to establish the bishop's fighting fund for general diocesan needs. A further £SOOO has been subscribed. The bishop, accompanied by Canon Malcolm, has been through the Wanganui, Patea, Opunake, Taihape and ■Mangaweka districts since leaving Wellington a fortnight ago. The £SOOO includes three gifts of £SOO each and represents contributions by 50 people. It is not expected that this will be the full or only response of those districts, as the bishop has merely been launching the appeal in each parish. So far the bishop's personal endeavours have raised £13,000 in the course of his tour through 21 parishes
