Willow Bank, Athol. * * * The -Women's Division of the National Party will hold its monthly meeting in the Returned Soldiers' Hall on Monday next, when a lecture will be delivered on the health and superannuation scheme.
The Dunedin West branch of the women's division of the National Party will hold a tea-dance on Mondays and Thursdays from 5 o'clock to 7 o'clock, in the National Party's club rooms (Art Society's rooms, opposite the old Post Office). The first of these novel functions will take place on Monday next, and members are invited to bring their friends.
The death has occurred of Mrs Mary Ann Broadbent, of Blenheim, aged 86. Mrs Broadbent arrived in Dunedin with her husband in 1879, after a long voyage, and settled in the city, where for some years they were prominent as social workers. On the death of her husband in 1921 Mrs Broadbent moved to Wellington, then to Auckland, and finally settled at Blenheim. She is survived by two sons, three daughters, and there are 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
•Peach blossom and japonica formed a lovely background in the lounge of the Otago Women's Club on Thursday afternoon when Mrs Russell Ritchie was "at home" to some 80 guests in honour of Mrs Allan Moody, of Auckland. The hostess wore a navy blue suit and hat and silver fox furs, and the guest of honour, a black frock and fur-trimmed coat and a smart black toaue. Mrs John Ritchie's ensemble was navy blue, and Miss Joan Ritchie wore with her ensemble of petrel blue a flame-coloured sash.
