WELL-KNOWN SOPRANO IN DUNEDIN i Now on her seventh broadcasting j tour of New Zealand. I.Jadame Mar- ! gherita Zelanda, the well-known Dunedin coloratura soprano, is at pi-esent on a short visit to this city. When her present tour is completed Madame j Zelanda will have given a total of 136 i broadcasts in studios throughout the J Dominion since she commenced singing over the air, but her record of broadcasts in Australia is even more impressive, for she has made three complete tours of the Commonwealth, covering a-distance of 19,000 miles, and has sung in 346 broadcasts, as well as a large number of other recitals in various parts cf the country. Madame Zelanda. who has an extensive repertoire' of some 2000 songs in English, French. German, and Italian, has latterly been specialising in German lieder. which, she finds, is becoming increasingly popular in Australia and New Zealand. At the present time, she states, students of singing are afforded an excellent opportunity of learning the finer points of lieder singing, especially in Sydney, as the result of the arrival there of large numbers of German people who have a close and intimate knowledge of this field of vocal expression.
