EXPROPRIATED LANDS
THE AMERICAN DEMAND REJECTED BY MEXICO MEXICO CITY, Sept. 1. (Received Sept. 2, at 10.35 p.m.) President Cardenas, addressing the open congress, indicated that Mexico would refuse Mr Cordell Hull's demand for suspension of expropriation of farmlands. The answer to the Note from America would be to reiterate the previous arguments. He added that an inventory of petroleum companies was being made, and they would be paid from the profits from the sale of petroleum. He said Britain had no right to intervene on behalf of the Mexican Eagle Oil Company, which is a Mexican corporation President Cardenas renewed his offer to discuss with the United States the value of the lands affected in order to reach agreement on the amount, of indemnification.
