ROSLYN CLUB'S MEETING The annual.meeting of the Roslyn Lawn Tennis Club was held at the Vedic Cafe on Wednesday evening. Mr R. S. Black, president of the club, presided over a good attendance of members and friends. In his opening remarks, Mr Black congratulated the club on its record last season in inter-club matches, especially the members of the women's A Grade and Intermediate teams, both being runners-up in their competitions. The social spirit of the club was gratifying, and he hoped that the club would have a successful season. Mr Black then outlined details in connection with the proposed new courts, and after general discussion by all members present the matter was left in the hands of the incoming committee to act on behalf of the members. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mr R. S. Black (re-elected); vice-presidents—Messrs G. I. Black. E. H. Calder, T. Grimsdale, A. C. McGeorge; secretary, Miss D. Rackley; assistant secretary, Mr A. Reid; treasurer, Mr J. E. Hartstonge; club captain, Mr W. E. Ruff; committee —Misses R. Burton and A. Rackley, Messrs J. Steven, N. Mollison, R. G. Sincock, W. Gorton. During the evening the president extended a hearty welcome to Messrs A. C. McGeorge and E. H. Calder, two vice-presidents, who were members of the club when it was formed 34 years ago. At the conclusion of the business of the evening, Mr Black asked Miss D. Rackley to present the cups to the winners of the various club competitions as follows: —Women's Handicap Singles, "Smith Challenge Cup," Miss A. Rackley; Women's Handicap Doubles, "Grimsdale Cup," Misses M. Graham and T. Nash; Men's Handicap Doubles, "J. D. Smith Cup," Messrs T. Grimsdale and H. Paul. The official opening of the season was fixed for September 17.
