NORTH ISLAND GRIEVANCES NEW BRANCH TO BE FORMED HEADQUARTERS AT WELLINGTON (Per United Press Association> WELLINGTON, Sept. 1. The decision to secede from the New Zealand South African War Veterans’ Association and to form a North Island Association with headquarters at Wellington, was reached at the annual meeting of the Wellington South African War Veterans’ Association to-night. Delegates to the recent conference at Christchurch reported on the discussions there, and the decision by a majority of two votes to move the headquarters to Christchurch. The Wanganui, New Plymouth, and Levin delegates had withdrawn from the conference along with the Wellington delegates. Members contended that moving the headquarters was a vote of no confidence in the executive. It was unanimously resolved to endorse the action of the delegates in withdrawing from the Christchurch meeting, and to take steps at the expiry of three months to form a North Island Association It was also decided to take the necessary steps to protect those associations which had fallen into line with Wellington.
