FORTY-EIGHT AT WAKARI CABINET ACCEPTS TENDERS (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, Sept. 1. The acceptance by Cabinet of tenders for the erection of a further 390 State houses in various parts of the Dominion was announced by the Parliamentary Un-der-secretary for Housing (Mr J. A. Lee). The details are:— Wellington.—Fletcher Construction Company, Ltd., 99 houses at Khandallah; the Fletcher Construction Company, Ltd., one single unit and two two-storeyed units at Petone. Hastings.—P. J. Bridgeman, five houses. Masterton. —W. Rigg, Ltd., six houses. Whangarei.—A. Walker, nine single-house units, three two-house units. Auckland.—Fletcher Construction Company, Ltd., 19 houses at Westmere; Fletcher Construction Company, Ltd., 62 houses at Point Chevalier; J. Pattison, eight houses at Point Chevalier; W. A. Phillips, three houses at Point Chevalier; E. P. Maddren, seven houses at Point Chevalier; G. Britton, nine houses at Avondale; T. Clements, seven houses at Otahuhu; Fletcher Construction Company, Ltd., five houses at St. Heliers; A. H. Beamish, two houses on Sunshine Block; A. Allen, one two-house unit at Devonport. Hamilton. Hamilton Co-op. Builders, 12 houses. Opotiki.—W. Wylde, six houses. Gisborne.—T. H, Tangney, three single-house units. Kaiapoi.—R. A. Stringer, eight houses. Rangiora.—Keir and Thompson, Ltd., eight concrete houses. Hokitika.—F. G. Reed, eight houses. Ashburton. —Smith Bros,, nine houses. Waimate. —T. W. Marshall, eight houses. Oamaru.—W. R. Williams, nine single-house units; H. Sutherland, five single-house units. Dunedin.—R. Mitchell and Sons, Ltd., 42 houses at Wakari; E. Levido, three single houses and three twohouse units at Wakari. Green Island.—G. T. Collier, seven houses. The following roading contracts have been accepted;— Gisborne—Mclntosh and Brooking. Christchurch.—M. Ryan, roading in Banks Block, Dallington. The following purchases of land have been approved:— Auckland. Sufficient for six houses in Kerr street, Devonport. Wanganui.—Land for 36 houses in Anzac parade, Broughton and Nixon streets. Dannevirke.—Land for five houses in High street. Woodville.—Land for five houses in McLean, Fox, Hall and Burgoyne streets.
