EVANGELICAL BIBLE LEAGUE

ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting of the Evangelical Bible League of Otago was held in the Somerset Lounge on Monday night, the Rev. Thomas Miller (president) being in the chair, with 6a present. In the absence of the secretary (Mr W. T. Wilson) and the treasurer (Mr N. Paterson), both of whom were in Auckland. Mr George Buckley presented the reports both of the secretary and treasurer. Reporting for the past year, he said that the league had assisted in the missions conducted by Messrs Robert Laidlaw and Andrew Johnston, the Rev. Evan Harries and the Rev. Bernard Wilson. Principal Hammond and Dr A. Hodge. Financial assistance had been given to the visit of Principal Hammond and the Rev. E. Harries. The finances of the league were in a sound position. Mr Buckley spoke of the forthcoming visits to Dunedin of Dr Oswald Smith, of Toronto, and Dr Hart Davies. of Edinburgh. The following office-bearers were elected:—President, the Rev. Thomas Miller, M.A.; secretary. Mr W. T. Wilson; treasurer, Mr N. Paterson; executive—the Revs. C. T. H Bycroft, J. K. Reid, Pastor J. P. Miller, Messrs J. P. Every. G. Buckley: council—the Revs. R. L. Fursdon. T. Pybus. R. Turner, Envoy In wood. Messrs J. Abernethy, D. Beath. J. D. Brown. Lawrence Cook, R. Ferguson, G. Gow. D. Leslie, G. Manson. M. Matheson, P. Matheson. W. R. McFadden. P. McSkimming, D. Pritchard, A. Sneddon, W. Ward. E. P Wilkinson, E. Wood. L. A. Brunton, J. Romeril, J. H. Stephens. F. Rawstron and R. Richardson. An address was given by Mr Robert Mcßride. who for 27 years has been a missionary in the Solomon Islands. In the transformation of the life and conduct of thousands of the natives Mr Mcßride showed the ever-living power of the Bible. During the evening a solo was sung by Mr Murray Fountain, and Miss Leslie assisted at the piano.
