HOSPITAL RATING

RISE IN WALLACE COUNTY MR HAMILTON CORRECTS STATEMENT (From Our Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, Aug. 30. A correction of a statement he made concerning the hospital rating in the Wallace County when the Estimates of the Health Department were under consideration last week was made by the Leader of the Opposition (Mr A. Hamilton) in the House of Representatives to-night. Mr Hamilton said he had been misinformed as to the extent to which the hospital rating had increased. " When the Health Department's Estimates were under consideration," Mr Hamilton said, "1 said that the hospital rating in the Wallace County since the amalgamation of the Southland and Wallace hospital districts had increased by 230 per cent. My authority for saying that was a letter from the county clerk, in which he said that the rate had gone up from 3-16 d in the pound to 10-16 d in the pound. Since that time I have been advised that I was misinformed, due to a mistake by the county clerk, and I believe that the increase is only about 27 per cent. I would like to take this opportunity of putting the matter right."
