NOTES FROM INVERCARGILL

( special ro Daily Hues > INVERCARGILL, Aug. 29. When Trebleack broke down last week it was a recurrence of an old trouble and there is an idea that he will never race again. His trainer, R. E. McLellan, does not agree with this view, but admits Trebleack will have to be spelled for 12 months. J. Thistleton does not intend to turn Gold Wren out, but he will be kept in easy exercise until put into solid work to contest the Great Western Steeplechase next Easter. He is not a robust horse and it is hoped to build him up in condition. Since Mr R. Brown, of Invercargill, leased him two months ago he has won almost £BOO. The lease runs until the end of next August.

Wynwood, who won a double at Wingatui on Saturday, is a gift horse. He was given to his trainer, J. Gray, about 12 months ago, and although he has not been raced much his form has been good. When first raced he was very unsound, but he has shown no signs of this trouble since being brought back. Quinopal is unlikely to race again. He was galloped at Wingatui on Saturday morning and pulled up very lame and could not be started. The previous day, when being railed to Wingatui, he broke away and galloped about 15 miles on the roads.

At a meeting of all the Southland racing clubs it was decided to approach the totalisator proprietor for southern meetings to have win and place tickets sold at the one window. Some difficulties have arisen, but the matter is being discussed further.
