OFFICIAL FORECAST CLOUDY TO OVERCAST The following is the official weather forecast:— An anti-cyclone is centred to the north of New Zealand, but pressure is low in the south under the influence of a westerly depression approaching across the Southern Tasman Sect Indications are for:— Winds.—Between north and west, moderate to strong in force from Taranaki and Hawke’s Bay southwards, and reaching gale force at times in exposed positions about and south of Cook Strait. Seas.—New Zealand waters: Rather rough to rough south of Cape Egmom and about Cook and Foveaux Straits, elsewhere slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: North-westerly to westerly winds, moderate in the northern portion, with moderate seas, but fresh to strong in the southern portion, with rather rough to rough seas. Weather.— Cloudy to overcast, with scattered rain in districts with a westerly aspect and in the far south, fair to cloudy in eastern areas; temperatures mild. WEATHER IN DUNEDIN Saturday was warm and firm, with bright sunshine in the morning and until the middle of the afternoon, when the sky became overcast. There was little wind, and the temperature rose to a maximum of 61deg. The barometer rose to 30.02 in, but was falling again yesterday, when conditions were cooler, with a light to moderate breeze from the north-east. The morning was dull, but the sun shone in the afternoon. The maximum temperature was 64deg, and the midn'ght barometer reading was 29.80 in. Although light showers fell on Saturday and Sunday, the weather was generally fine during the week-end. There was bright sunshine on Saturday afternoon, but Sunday was overcast, and a light westerly to southwesterly wind prevailed. The maximum temperature was 58deg and the minimum 48deg. The barometric pressure rose to 30.26 in at noon on Sunday, but began to fall in the afternoon. the reading at 3 o'clock 'being 30.18 in. WELLINGTON, Aug. 14. Saturday was fine and sunny, with a moderate north-westerly breeze. Similar conditions prevailed this morning, but the cloud increased during the day, and the wind freshened to a strong north-westerly. The temperatures were milder. The maximum today was 56.9 deg. At 3 p.m. the barometer reading was 30,02 deg. CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. 14. The weather at the week-end was fine and mild. Saturday was warm and sunny, with a maximum temperature of 63.1 deg, which was fairly high for the time of the year. To-day was overcast all day, but warm. Both days were practically without wind. The barometer reading at 5 p.m. to-day was 29.94 in.
