QUEENSTOWN
Sections at Frankton
At the last sitting of the Magistrate’s Court, before Mr A. C. Abernethy, S.M., a large number of suits for arrears of rates on abandoned sections on the Frankton Flat were preferred by the Lake County Council These sections were taken up by the original owners over 60 years ago and in each case, after diligent search and by advertisement no response was received by the county clerk for the demands made except in one case, namely George Archer, wherein & relative lay claim. It is probable that all of the defendants have passed away or have left the Dominion. The object of the actions was to clear up the ratebdoks and clear the way for the sale in future. The names of the defendants were: Alfred Norman, E. F. B. Norman, Sarah Woodrow, Michael and Isaac Cracour, Michael John Flemming, Henry John Cope, Anthony D. Wilson, Thomas Hicks, George Archer, J. Johnston, Patrick Mooney and John Howell. Judgment was given in each case for Is and court costs (£1 Is 6d). The judgments will be satisfied bv the sale of the sections under the provisions of the Rating Act and titles will be issued by the Registrar of the Supreme Court after the lapse of six months.
