CHAIN-SMOKER'S FATE

Stated by her landlady to be a chain smoker, Mrs Mary Kathleen Pentreath, 68-year-old widow, of Bayswater, London, smoked four cigarettes one morning before breakfast and fell asleep. Her clothing caught fire, and she died from burns. At the Paddington inquest a verdict of "Accidental death " was recorded.
