COMPETITION FROM OVERSEAS HEAVY STAFF REDUCTIONS I Per United Press Association) AUCKLAND. Aug. 2. Because of a slackness in orders which it attributes to the elTects of overseas competition, one large Auckland clothing manufacturing firm last week put off 16 hands, and announces that within the next few days tin number it proposes to discharge will be brought up to about 1 00. "As work upon which we are now engaged finishes up we are putting off eirls." said a representative of the firm. "We have made every endeavour to hold our staff together, but we are forced to make dismissals."
