Playing nursemaid to a baby whose mother was too ill with air-sickness to care for the child herself fell to the lot of Mr William Machin, when he flew from Australia to England. The other passengers—mostly men—took turns at nursing the baby, keeping it quiet with bottles of hot milk, Mr Machin told the Christchurch Business Men’s Club at its luncheon recently. They were heartily thankful when, on the second day. the mother and child left the aeroplane.
