CENTENARY OF DEATH COMMEMORATION IN SYDNEY SYDNEY, July 19. The outstanding personality at the centenary commemoration of the death of the Rev. Samuel Marsden at the Sydney Town Hall to-night, under the auspices of the Church Missionary Society, was the Maori Bishop, the Right Rev. F. A. Bennett.
who read a special message from the Maori section of the church and praised Marsden's work among the Maoris. An added interest to the gathering was the presence of the Maori choir.
ARCHBISHOP MOWLL'S TRIBUTE (United Press Association I (By Electric Teleeranh—Coovright) SYDNEY, July 20. (Received July 21, at 0.15 a.m.) The centenary commemoration of the death of the Rev. Samuel Marsden is being continued in the Sydney Town Hall until Friday. It includes an exhibition of arts and crafts of various races ministered to by the Church Missionary Society. Illustrated lectures and talks are held each day on mission subjects. Archbishop Mowll paid a tribute to the Rev. Samuel Marsden's work in New Zealand, of which the main factor was placing the Maoris on equality with the white people.
