THE ENGLISH WOMEN’S HOCKEY TEAM
ro THE EDITOR Sir, —As a rule I would not think of answering anonymous correspondence. but as the letter by “ Spectator ” contains untrue statements in regard to mwself and the Otago team. I feel it my duty to correct them The report of the executive meeting published in both papers shows that an invitation was given to all players to be present at the civic reception—that was, a general invitation. I then, as captain, received a notice from the chairwoman (for the secretary) inviting all the team to be present at the reception, but stating that the players woirid be excused if they felt more like resting after practice; they were just to please themselves. This notice I read to the whole team at that practice, so that any member who did not receive the invitation can only blame herself for not listening. I personally asked to be excused. —1 am. etc..
