GENERAL ELECTION
. MID-CANTERBURY SEAT FRESH NOMINATIONS CALLED (Per United Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH. July 3. Fresh nominations, to close next Saturday, have been called for a ballot to decide the National Party’s candidate in the Mid-Canterbury electorate. Among them is expected to be that of Mr A. N. Grigg, of “Surrey Hills," one of the best known pastoralists of the Dominion. It is stated, although no official announcement was forthcoming from the Ashburton branch of the National Party, that Mr Grigg has already been approached, and that it is considered likely that his nomination will be made this week. Mr A. A. McDonald, president of the Mid-Canterbury Executive of the National Party, said to-day that it was correct that fresh nominations had been called, and that the closing date had been set for next Saturday.
