OFFICIAL FORECAST STILL FAIR TO FINE The following is the official weather forccßsti -- The anti-cyclone covering the Tasman Sea and the South Island has decreased greatly in intensity. Pressure has, indeed, fallen somewhat over the whole area from eastern Australia to beyond Chatham Islands, indications are for: — Winds.—Light to moderate southeasterlies prevailing about and north of Cook Strait, and variables, with south-east to north-east predominating, thence southwards. Seas—New Zealand waters—A heavy swell north of Castlepoint; elsewhere slight to moderate seas. Eastern Tasman Sea: Variable winds, with moderate southerlies prevailing in the northern portion; seas slight to moderate. Weather. —Scattered light rains still probable between Hawke s Bay and East Cape and in parts of North Auckland; otherwise fair to fine; temperatures cold, with some sharp frosts.

WEATHER IN DUNEDIN Exceptionally cold weather was experienced in Dunedin on Wednesday night and yesterday morning. There was no wind, but the temperature fell quickly and a minimum of 29 degrees was recorded on the roof of the -Daily Times building. In some parts of the city and suburbs a much more severe frost was recorded. With the lifting of the heavy ground fog _ yesterday morning, the sun shone brightly, but temperatures again fell rapidly towards evening and another severe frost appeared certain. The barometer continued to fall and the reading at midnight was 30.08 inches. Following unsettled weather In the morning the day was fine and sunny but cold, the wind being light from the south. The maximum temperature was 56 degrees. The barometric pressure was fairly steady, the reading at 5 p.m. being 29.90 inches. WELLINGTON, June 16. The weather to-day was cloudy in the afternoon but otherwise was fine with a light to moderate southerly breeze. The temperatures were cold with frost in the.early morning. The minimum temperature last night was 37 2 degrees and the maximum to-day 50.6 degrees. At 3 p.m. the barometer reading was 30.036 inches. CHRISTCHURCH, June 16. After a frost of 14.8 degrees the day was brilliantly fine and sunny. It was the severest frost since 1934. The maximum temperature was 44.5 degrees. The morning was calm and a very light south-west wind blew in the afternoon. The barometer fell to 30.07 inches at 5 p.m.
