DUE TO PILOT’S ERROR
EMPIRE FLYING BOAT CRASH GREEK GOVERNMENT’S REPORT LONDON, June 14. The accident must be attributed to an error of the pilot, states the Greek Government’s report to the Air Ministry in reference to the crash of the Empire flying boat Courtier on October 1. The pilot descended without, according to custom, previously turning above the alighting place for the purpose of observation. The Imperial Airways flying boat Courtier, en route to England from Alexandra, made a faulty landing in fog at Athens. An Englishman. Wing-commander D. Acland, an American, Mr Roy Henderson, and an unidentified Greek were killed. The Courtier had no mails aboard. There were nine passengers, of whom three were killed. The other passengers and the crew suffered injuries varying in severity.
