ANTI-AIRCRAFT DEFENCE
THE POSITION IN BRITAIN GUNS OF MODERN TYPE (British Official Wireless) RUGBY, June 14. (Received June 15, at 5.5 p.m.) In the House of Commons, in answer to questions on anti-aircraft defence, the Secretary for War, Mr L. Hore-Belisha, intimated that the Government had decided to give full and effective priority to the production of anti-aircraft guns of modern type. He forecast an early announcement of details of the reorganisation now in progress to ensure that full and undivided attention will be given to every aspect and detail of anti-aircraft defence in view of its special importance in relation to general military requirements. Reorganisation was also necessitated by the great expansion in personnel. With reference to the latter, Mr Hore-Belisha observed that recruiting for the anti-aircraft divisions was proceeding with such remarkable speed that the first division, which a year ago was 10,000, was now 20,000, and the second division, which was 9943 a year ago, was now nearly 19,000, *
