The removal of a bank and existing hedge at Scarba street to permit the erection of a wall on the street alignment, at an estimated cost of £22, subject to the owner agreeing to arrange for the erection of the wall at his own expense. Improvements to the alignment of kerbing and guttering at the intersection of Argyle street and Elgin road, at a total estimated cost of £23, chargeable to the Contingency Vote. The erection of fencing along each side of the new Lindsay’s Creek channel through the property of Mr C. A. Wilson. Estimated cost £IOO. Improvements to the screenings pitch at Ainslee place, at an estimated cost of £ll, chargeable to the Contingency Vote. For Consideration The engineer has been instructed to record for consideration with the allocations for the current financial year the following matters:— The widening of Elgin road and English avenue on the frontage of Allotment 1, L.T.P. 833, Glen Estate, where land has been dedicated for this purpose. Estimated cost £730. The widening of Every street and Albion street, including removal of existing fencing, hedges, erection of walling between Every street and the main entrance gates of the Karitane Nurses’ Home, alteration of the existing brick gateway and construction of kerbing and guttering, and footway in Every street and portion of Albion street. Estimated cost £6BO, The provision of paved footways in portions of Halsey and Sturdee streets. Estimated cost £54. The erection of 24 lights in Sturdee street (1), Wakari road (6), Norfolk street (1), Kenmure road (1), King Edward and Bowen streets (1), Byron street (1), Font street (1), Leith Valley road (2), Haddon street (1), Wycolla avenue (2), Surrey street (1), Braeview crescent (1), Pennant street (1), Evans street (1), Ainslee place (1), and Rolla street (2). The total cost of erecting these lights is £314 19s 9d, but the Works Department will be required to pay only £l9 18s 5d per annum for five years on account of the capital cost, plus the annual running cost of each light.
