COSTLY FILLY SCORES
One of the nicest fillies at the 1937 yearling sales in Sydney was that by Heroic frorh White Swan, and at 600 guineas she was sold to the Rosehill trainer W. Booth. Named Powder Puff, she has been
sparingly raced, and to give her confidence her owner-trainer has raced her on provincial tracks. On May 24 (says the Sydney Morning Herald) she opened favourite for the first division of the Maiden Two-year-old Handicap, and, although she receded when Hunting Chorus and Astounding had spirited back-
ing, she won very easily by tw* lengths from Astounding, with Gambier half a length away third. Powder Puff’s yearling brother sold for 1700 guineas ai the sales this year, and the filly later on will make a great mate for Imported Denis Boy, whose yearlings this year are some of the best he has sired.
