OFFICIAL FORECAST SCATTERED SHOWERS The following is the official weather An intense and extensive anti-cyc-lone covers Australia, while another of lesser intensity is centred near Chatham Island. A shallow depression is approaching the southern portion of the South Island. Indications are for: — Winds. —Light to moderate and variable with north-easterlies predominating, and freshening somewhat over the South Island, a change to southerlies advancing from the south to beyond Cook Strait. Seas. —New Zealand waters: Slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Light to moderate northerly winds, but a change to southerlies advancing from the west; seas slight to ..moderate. Weather.—For the most part fair to fine, some scattered showers or drizzling rain probable, however, more especially in the South Island; mild day, but cold night temperatures, with some morning fogs. WEATHER IN DUNEDIN There was bright sunshine yesterday after a heavy dew, but the light south-west breeze was cold, and the temperature did not rise above 54 degrees. The barometer had a slight falling tendency, the reading at midnight being 30.05 inches. Another fine, mild day. with a light wind from the south, was experienced to-day. The maximum temperature was 63 degrees. The barometric pressure was steady, with the reading at 5 p.m. 30.14 Inches. WELLINGTON, June 2. The weather to-day was beautifully fine and mild, with very little wind. There was a light fog in the morning. The minimum temperature last night was 46.1 degrees, and the maximum to-day 55.1 degrees. At 3 p.m. the .barometer reading was 30.112 inches. CHRISTCHURCH, June 2. The weather was fine but dull and cold to-day. The wind was light from the north-west in the morning, and from the east-north-east in the afternoon. The maximum temperature was 50 degrees.
