THEFT OF WATCH

PORTER PLACED ON PROBATION MARRIAGE CEREMONY INTERVENES (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 31. When Edward Frederick Olley, aged 23 years, a porter, was charged with the theft of a watch Detectivesergeant P. Doyle stated that accused was getting married at 3 o clock that afternoon—otherwise he would have asked to have him remanded so that they could make further inquiries, They did not want to Interfere with the marriage ceremony. The watch, it was stated, was taken from a man living at the same address and it had been pawned. The accused told the police that he was short of money at the time. He was placed on probation for 12 months.
