ON THE ROSLYN TRAM
to nit tun on Sir, —Being a frequent traveller on the Roslyn tram car that leaves town at 7.45 a.m., I have to complain about the relief workers travelling by this car. They make a mild scramble for seats, and make others—many of whom have to do an honest day’s work — stand. When the conductor comes round they give him a whole penny, while the other persons who happen to have at least a trace of manners have to stand and pay threepence or fourpence, as the case may be. This morning a gentleman had the pocket of his coat torn, while I myself had a nasty jab in the ribs, kindly administered by the fore-mentioned relief workers. On the Kaikorai tram Company’s cars running down Stuart street they have a notice saying that children occupying seats and requiring adults to stand shall be charged full fare. In due fairness. I think the Council could make this apply to relief workers as well on the cable cars controlled by it.—l am, etc.. Full Fare. May 30.
