TOWN HALL DANCE

FOURTH HEAT OF CHAMPIONSHIP The 1938 Town Hall Dancing Championship was advanced a further stage on Saturday night, when the fourth heal was decided in the Concert Chamber. There was a fairly large attendance, and the judges—Messrs B. Duff and R. Brown —found the task of selecting the first three couples no easy one. At the conclusion of the exhibitions, however, Miss P. Hackett and Mr A, Cuthbert, Miss P. White and Mr E. L. de Berry, and Miss 1. Wood and Mr P. McNamara were chosen to take part in the final to be held towards the end 01 the year. The Savonia Orchestra rendered an appropriate and nicely-varied programme of music, which was interspersed with selected recordings Mr James MacFarlane carried out the duties of M.C., and was assisted by the manager of the dance (Mr J. Brown) The attractive surroundings of the hall were made the more striking by means of the softly-shaded lighting arrangements. Amongst those present were:—Mesdames D.
