There is an interesting story attached to the photograph of the firstmemorial to New Zealand soldiers in Hobart which has been presented to - the New Plymouth Museum by Mr C. J. O’Keefe, Auckland. Mr O’Keefe first came to know of the memorial by an Australian press picture, but as this did not seem to show it in a very impressive light, he wrote to a Hobart photographer asking him to take the best picture possible. The photographer certainly did his task well, and the picture which has arrived in New Plymouth is a work of art, with the tall monument in silhouette against a cloudy sky. t. " <
