OIL DEVELOPMENT

EARLY START TO BE MADE SHIPMENT OF MACHINERY (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON. May 27. The Minister of Mines (Mr P. C. Webb) has received advice by cablegram from the chairman of directors of the New Zealand Petroleum Company, Ltd. (Sir Colin Fraser), who is at present in New York, that all the drilling plant for the east coast petroleum prospecting has been shipped. The drillers are being sent from the Persian Gulf for New Zealand, and an early start will be made on drilling. He also stated that a geological team sailed from New York on May 25 to survey the Taranaki province.
