OFFICIAL FORECAST UNSETTLED CONDITIONS The following Is the official weather An anti-cyclone ts centred over the Northern Tasman Sea. Pressure is very low to the south of the Chatham Islands, and has also fallen considerably over South-eastern Australia. Indications are for:— Winds.—Moderate to strong, but decreasing, south-westerly prevailing generally,' but gradually backing to north-westerly in the far south and again freshening. Seas.—New Zealand Waters: Rather rough to rough north of Farewell Spit and south of Dunedin; elsewhere moderate, but with a considerable foutherly swell on the east coast. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to strong south-westerly winds, backing in the southern portion to northwesterly; seas rather rough to rough. Weather.—For the most part fair to fine, but conditions gradually becoming unsettled in western and far southern districts of the South Island, with scattered rains; mild day, but cold night, temperatures, with many frosts. The weather to-day was generally fine but cloudy, with a few showers about mid-day. The wind was fresh from the south-west. The maximum temperature was 64 degrees. The barometric pressure was fairly steady, the reading at 5 p.m. being 30.05 inches. WELLINGTON, May 27. The weather to-day was brilliantly fine. There was a light northerly wind in the morning, and at noon a moderate southerly set in. The temperatures were cooler, the maximum being 65.0 degrees. At 3 p.m. the barometer reading was 29.838 inches. CHRISTCHURCH, May 27. The weather to-day was fine and sunny all day. with a very light southwest wind. The maximum temperature was 53.7 degrees.
