(Received May 27, at 8.30 p.m.) The Stock Exchange is generally quiet, but there is a healthy undertone. The only worth-while feature to-day was the strong recovery of Commercial Banking of Sydney shares to £2O Bs. Broken Hill stocks were steady.

UNITED STARR-BOWKETT A meeting of members of the United Starr-Bowkett Building Society was held on Thursday evening to dispose of £IBOO by ballot and sale. A ballot was held for the 103rd appropriation in No. 6 group, cluster No. 10 being drawn, neld by one member. The 104th appropriation in No. 6 group was £SOO by sale, but, there being no buyers, a ballot was held, and cluster No. 17 was drawn, held by one member. 'A ballot for the forty-third appropriation in No. 10 group resulted in cluster No. 21 being drawn, held by two members.
