BOXING

JENKIN r. PARKS One of the most eagerly awaited professional boxing contests of the season will be staged at the Town Hall on Monday night, when Stan Jenkin, of Oamaru, will be matched against the clever American Negro, ! " Tiger " Parks, who created such a good impression by the showing he made recently against Dick Baker, of Invercargill. Parks has had 15 years' experience in the ring, and now that he has recovered from the

effects of a badly-jarred hand, he stands out as one of the most formidable men of his weight in the Dominion to-day. He is a fast and hard straight-hitter, and can punch with either hand. Jenkin has been beaten only once since entering professional ranks, and his long list of successes and his attractive boxmg make him a favourite with Dunedin crowds. There should be some first-rate boxing in this contest as well as some vigorous exchanges. Boxing is back to favour in Dunedin, and this bout should do a great deal further to stimulate interest. The association has also arranged a programme of six special amateur bouts in support, one of the most interesting of which will be that between M. Parr, the cleverest and most scientific boxer at the New Zealand University tournament, and Paddy Dolan. The harder the going the better Dolan fights, and his meeting with Parr should provide one of the best amateur bouts of the year. Full particulars are advertised.
