SUDDEN DEATH

MR J. M. DUNNINGHAM AUSTRALIAN STATE MINISTER SYDNEY, May 26. (Received May 26, at 8.25 p.m.) Mr J. M. Dunningham, Minister of Labour and Industry, collapsed in his office to-day, and died within an hour from a heart attack. He was aged 54. The Premier (Mr B. S. B. Stevens) and Ministerial colleagues received a great shock, as Mr Dunningham was a most popular member of the Cabinet. Mr Dunningham had Ministerial charge of the recent anniversary celebrations. As a result of overwork he had minor heart seizures and he was warned by his doctors to take a rest. Mr Dunningham however, always replied: “ I must see it through.” Government offices were closed this afternoon, and a State funeral has been ordered.
