A Last Voyage Mr G. Kurtz, an Australian sportsman who attended the Interdominion Championship meeting, died on the voyage home and was buried at sea. Juvenile Stakes The Juvenile Stakes, to be run at Addington on Saturday, will arouse a lot of interest, as the field is mostly composed of candidates for the New Zealand Sapling Stakes. Peter Smith

The novice Peter Smith is down to have his next start at Cambridge He finished second at the Waikato meeting and may go one better on Saturday, as the distance, one mile and a-quarter, should be in his favour. Langdale

The American-bred gelding Langdale will have his first race in the Dominion when he contests the novice event at Cambridge, and a good deal of interest will centre in his display. A Mystery The establishment of so-called classic races for pacers and trotters has the worthy object of improving the breed, but how can that result be achieved when the breeding of some of the candidates is a partial mystery to many interested? A Glance at Breeding

The 13 youngsters remaining In the New Zealand Sapling Stakes supply a pleasing response to the Ashburton Trotting Club's efforts to raise the standard of breeding and racing among light-harness horses. Some of those engaged have been seen in public, and although they were not forward enough to show their top speed, the education should prove beneficial Aidershot, the brother to Wrackler, has attracted most attention. He is a stylishlooking colt, bred on lines which produced a remarkable horse in Wrackler and other good performers in Arethusa and Raclaim. Hence anything bred on similar lines is not a freak production, but one that should live up to the family fame. Aldershot made a creditable showing at Timaru, and, it is understood that a substantial price has been refused for the colt. No fewer than eight fillies are amongst those engaged. Starace is a filly by Nelson Derby from Nanette, by Author Dillon—Llama, by Lord Chancellor — Little Princess, by Prince Imperial. Revision is a filly by Jack Potts from Olive Turmoil, a dam that does not figure in the Stud Book. Bedrock is a filly by Nelson Derby from Athelney Lass, by Great Audubon from Little Kewpie. Athelney Lass is a half-sister to War Buoy. Rowi is a filly by Jack Potts from Waiana, another of apparently unknown pedigree. Coquette is a filly by Grattan Loyal from Bonny Logan, by Logan Pointer from Bonilene. Bonny Logan has a record of 2min 7 4-ssec. Worthy Empress is a filly by Worthy Bingen from Queen Chimes, and so ranks as a sister to Worthy Queen, 2min 3 3-ssec. Wainoni Girl was got by Grattan Loyal from Atralette, by Man-o’-War from Belette, by Prince Im-perial-Fanny Wood, by Blackwood Abdallah. Scenic Gem is another of the apparently short pedigree lot. and was got by Wrack from a Nelson Derby mare. Centaurus is' a gelding by David McElwyn from Alice Dillon, by Harold Dillon from Bright Alice, by Rothschild. Alice Dillon is also the dam of Glenrossie. Taiki is a gelding by Grattan Royal from Becky Logan, the dam of Graham Direct. Special Editor a gelding by Grattan Loyal from Daphne de Oro. bv Logan Pointer— Doraldino. And Zingarri is a colt by Jack Potts from Zara, and hence is a brother to Zincali. who has won four times this season, including the Manawatu Trotting Cup in 4mm 27sec.
