CHARGE OF BIGAMY
ACCUSED PLEADS GUILTY COMMITTED FOR SENTENCE (Per United Press Association) AUCKLAND, May 26. A plea of guilty to a charge of bigamy was entered in the Police Court by Robert Million, aged 38 years, a miner, formerly of Huntly. In a signed statement the accused said he married in England in 1922, and,’ with his wife and four children he came to New Zealand in 1929. They resided at Huntly, but his wife frequently visited Auckland and trouble arose between them. He got work at Te Kuiti, his wife remaining in Auckland. He visited Auckland in February, but his wife was not at home, He sold up the home and returned to Huntly with two of the children. In March, he visited Auckland and met a single woman. After knowing her for a fortnight he proposed marriage, was accepted, and went through the ceremony on April 2 of this year. His lawful wife, in a signed statement. said she left her husband because of his ill-treatment of her. Million was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence.
