81-CENTENARY OF METHODISM
DUNEDIN CELEBRATIONS Dunedin Methodism is to join with other Methpdists scattered all over the world in celebrating the two hundredth anniversary of the evangelical conversion of John Wesley, the revered Father-in-God of almost 40,000,000 of the people of the world. Wherever the banner of Methodism has been raised appropriate celebrations are being held. In New Zealand the occasion will be marked by earnest seeking on the part of Methodists for a spiritual experience similar to that which came to Wesley and the early Methodists, who felt their hearts strangely warmed and who proclaimed the fact to all the world. Broadcast addresses are to be given from the national stations, the speaker for Dunedin being the Rev. L. B. Neale On Sunday Bible class members and Sunday school scholars from the local churches will assemble at the Queen’s Gardens and march in procession to the Octagon Hall, where a special youth service is to be held. The speakers will be Mr E. J. King and the Rev. D. O. Williams. A united commemoration service will be held in the Pioneer Hall on Tuesday. The Rev. L. B. Neale (chairman of the district) will preside, and addresses are to be given by Mr D. C. Cameron, ex-vice-presi-dent of the conference, and the Rev.
Basil Metson. The singing is to be led by a combined choir of 200 voices, and during the evening Wesley’s account of his conversion will be read.
