TREES WILL FORM BEACON
Six thousand trees are to be planted at Portsmouth to form the first tree beacon in England—a landmark for airmen and sailors.
The site chosen is a three-acre plol on Portsdown Hill, which rises nearly 400 ft above Portsmouth, and can be seen by airmen from all directions, as well as by ships at sea.
